Stop trying to micromanage your putter. Most golfers spend their entire round fighting the urge to twist the face open or closed. It is a losing battle. If you struggle with start direction or find yourself getting way too handsy through impact, the tech is finally catching up to your mistakes. Zero torque putters are the answer for anyone who can’t keep the face square.

The end of face rotation struggles

Traditional putters are a headache because the relationship between the shaft and the center of gravity creates torque, according to MyGolfSpy Feedburner. This forces you to manually manage how the face rotates during your stroke. By shifting the shaft axis nearer to the center of gravity, zero torque designs alter the math. This reduces the tendency for the head to twist on its own. MyGolfSpy states the objective is not strictly a straight-back/straight-through path, but rather minimizing face manipulation during movement.

The data backs this up. In testing of over 70 putters, zero torque models averaged a -6.29 PuttView Handicap. That beats the -3.99 average for mallets and the -2 and a half for blades. When looking at the top 15 putters from a combined group of 79, every single one was a zero torque model, per MyGolfSpy.

Affordable wins and new Mizuno tech

You don’t need to spend a fortune to get this stability. Wilson Golf is making a massive move in the budget space. Their Infinite Zero Torque Lakeview and The 606 both retail for $199.99. This makes them the cheapest zero torque options from a major brand. The Lakeview even produced a -9.0 mark from short range, which was the best short-putting result of any blade or mallet in the entire 2026 testing cycle, according to MyGolfSpy.

Forum testers are already seeing the benefits. ZJeb67, while testing The 606, noted that “The putter still just hits the ball where I aim it. .”It seems like that’s about the least possible issue a putter could have,” he added. .”

Mizuno is also entering the fray with the M.CRAFT X system. This setup uses a Z-Neck design to offer a different take on zero torque performance. The brand claims this neck passes directly through the center of gravity to minimize twisting forces. This system is built with a one-piece forged face and 1025E mild carbon steel, with a list price of $399.99 starting September 24.
